HOLLOWELL, William L. - WWI

William Lester Hollowell of RR 2, Covington, age 85, died Sunday morning, July 19, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born in Rossville, Illinois, December 2, 1895, the son of L. N. and Mary Jessie Sine Hollowell. January 19, 1920, he married Minnie Gray, who survives. An Army veteran of World War I, he was a member of Gessie United Methodist Church and of the Veterans of World War I Barracks 1995. He was a retired farmer.

  Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Leah Miller of RR 1, Covington, Mrs. Mary Coleman of Rockville, Mrs. Lois Marshall of rural Perrysville and Mrs. Janis Keele of RR 2, Covington; two sons, William of Covington and Daryl of RR 2, Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Myers of Sayoy, Illinois, and Mrs. Blanche Albright of Peoria, Illinois, 23 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Edgar Allen officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington with military graveside rites. – thanks to S
